Mental health

According to the Mental Health Foundation, nearly half of adults with debt also experience mental health issues. And it’s a two-way street: poor mental health can make managing money even harder.

Here are some signs that financial stress might be affecting your mental health:

  • Constant anxiety or worry about money, even when you're not actively dealing with bills.
  • Feelings of hopelessness, guilt, or shame tied to your financial situation.
  • Depression-like symptoms: low energy, loss of interest in daily activities, or persistent sadness.
  • Denial or avoidance, like ignoring bills or refusing to check your bank balance.
  • Insomnia or disrupted sleep, often due to racing thoughts about money.

If any of these sound familiar. you're not alone, and there are people and services that genuinely want to help you through this (scroll for more information).
